Although Luxembourg is a small country, it has a solid and strong economy and a very high level of prosperity. In the country where inflation and unemployment rates are low, the average per capita income is over $100,000, and with this feature, it ranks third in the world after Liechtenstein and Monaco. Luxembourg shows a stable image with an average growth of approximately 3% in the last 10 years.
The main fields that stand out in the country's economy are telecommunications, information technologies, communication, banking, finance, logistics, cargo transportation, biotechnology, biomedical, space technologies, renewable energy, tourism, aluminum, chemistry, engineering and glass. Due to its position in finance and banking, Luxembourg is considered a tax haven just like Switzerland, which brings with it criticisms about transparency. For this reason, studies on developing new standards in this field have been carried out in recent years. The share of the industrial sector in national income is below 15% and meets 20% of employment. Agricultural activities, on the other hand, are extremely limited and do not make a significant contribution to the country's economy.
Foreign trade volume has been in the range of 35-40 billion dollars in recent years. Finally, in 2018, the foreign trade volume was 40.1 billion dollars in total, with 16.2 billion dollars of exports and 23.9 billion dollars of imports. The main partners of Luxembourg in foreign trade are European countries. Two thirds of the total foreign trade volume is met by Belgium, Germany and France, which are in the middle geographically. Other prominent countries in this field are the Netherlands, England, Italy, Switzerland, the USA and China.
